Rules per the Right to Education State Task Force Handbook

A Local Task Force Chairperson or Vice-chairperson must be a consumer (a parent, guardian, or a surrogate of school-age child with a disability) A Local Task Force Chairperson and Vice-chairperson must be a member (person who has been voted by the Local Task Force membership, by a simple majority vote to be a member).

Persons are eligible for membership vote upon attending 2 consecutive meetings if the LTF. Chairpersons and Vice-chairpersons are limited to 4 consecutive years in each position.

If the circumstance arises, in which no candidate other than the current LTF Chairperson or Vice chairperson seeks to be elected after the 4 years, then the State Task Force will review this rule and consider any exception.


Elections

Elections are to be held at the Local Task Force meeting, on or before June 30th. The results must be sent by August 1st to the State Task Force Chairperson at kfocht@pa.gov .

The Local Task Force Election Meeting is to be announced and advertised to the members of the LTF.

Nominations are to be provided to the Chairperson and Vice-chairperson, from the floor, at the meeting.

A person wishing to nominate a person should raise their hand and be recognized by the Chairperson and/or Vice-chairperson to share their nomination preference.

A second to each nomination is required.

The candidates should be present and accept the nomination.

The voting for the candidates can occur by voice vote or paper vote by the membership.

A simple majority of the voting members present will determine the elected candidates for the Chairperson and the Vice-chairperson.

The newly elect Chairperson and Vice-chairperson’s responsibilities will start immediately after the election process.
